For the past 75 years, Auburn, California has hosted the annual Auburn Rodeo. Every year, kicking off at the Gold Country fairgrounds, events include the Miss Auburn Stampede pageant, Barrel Racing, and more. Hundreds of the country's best cowboys and cowgirls come to compete for thousands of dollars in prizes. Some of the various tourist attractions Auburn has to offer include: The historic Placer County Courthouse and Museum. Additionally, Hotel Auburn is the last remaining of the many historic hotels built in Auburn in the 19th and 20th centuries, with its unique design. Finally, originally known as the Traveler's Rest, the oldest wooden structure in Auburn, now known as Bernard House, was built in 1855, is located at 291 Auburn Folsom Road. Nearby Sacramento is the capital of the State of California, and also the seventh largest city in the state. Sacramento is also home to ARCO Arena, home of the NBA's Sacramento Kings. As a true wild west town, Auburn is a fantastic destination for city slickers tired of the traffic jams and hustle and bustle of city life.
